State Festival Announcement for 'Prabhala Teertham'

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced on Friday that the cabinet has decided to officially recognize the ancient traditional chariot festival, 'Prabhala Teertham', as a state celebration.

He explained that this festival takes place in the village of Jaganna Thota in Konaseema during the Sankranti festival, attracting devotees from across the region.

In a post on the social media platform 'X', Naidu stated, “In honor of the devotion and faith of the people of Konaseema, who have preserved this tradition for generations, the cabinet has decided to celebrate Jaganna Thota Prabhala Teertham as a state festival.”

During this event, idols from 11 ancient Shiva temples are gathered on a single platform, making it one of the most significant spiritual gatherings in the area.

He noted that approximately half a million people participate in this event each year and assured that the government will provide all necessary support. The Chief Minister expressed hope that this decision would enhance cultural tourism in Konaseema and strengthen the state's efforts to preserve traditional festivals.
