Amruta Fadnavis has made headlines amid the ongoing debate regarding the participation of Muslims in Garba and Dandiya events during Navratri in Maharashtra. She emphasized that festivals should not discriminate based on religion or caste. While she acknowledged that identity checks may be necessary for security purposes, she firmly stated that it is inappropriate to bar anyone based on their faith.

Public Role and Social Media Challenges

In her remarks, Amruta Fadnavis also touched upon the challenges faced by public figures, particularly the wives of ministers, who often endure significant trolling on social media. She noted that they are sometimes portrayed in a negative light, which has sparked discussions around the issue.

Regarding the entry of Muslims into Garba festivities, Amruta Fadnavis expressed that events like Garba and Navratri should foster unity among people. She believes that if a Muslim individual wishes to participate peacefully and enjoy the celebrations, there is nothing wrong with that.

Differing Opinions from VHP and Nitesh Rane

Her comments come at a time when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for a ban on Muslim participation in Garba and Dandiya events in Maharashtra. Minister Nitesh Rane has also supported this demand, making Amruta Fadnavis's stance appear distinct in this context. She further stated that if there are genuine issues, appropriate regulations and legal frameworks should be established rather than resorting to discrimination based on religion.
