Call for Communication Between Thackeray Brothers
In light of ongoing discussions about a potential political reconciliation between Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, Amit Thackeray, a leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has made a significant statement. He emphasized that forming an alliance requires genuine dialogue rather than mere press briefings. Amit, the son of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, suggested that the two brothers should communicate directly. He remarked that their discussions would not change anything unless they reach out to each other. 'They both have each other's contact numbers. If there is a real interest, they should call,' he stated.
Political Alliance Signals Emerge
This statement comes after increasing indications from both Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS regarding the possibility of an alliance, nearly two decades after Raj separated from the original Shiv Sena to form his own party in 2006. Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar commented that Raj Thackeray leads the MNS while Uddhav Thackeray heads Shiv Sena (UBT). He noted that any decisions made by them are their prerogative, questioning the relevance of discussions between others.
Raj Thackeray's Optimism for Unity
Recently, Raj Thackeray expressed that reuniting for the sake of the Marathi community would not be difficult. Uddhav echoed this sentiment, stating he is willing to overlook 'minor skirmishes' as long as the alliance does not involve forces working against Maharashtra's interests. Amit Thackeray, reflecting on past electoral defeats in 2024, recalled unsuccessful attempts at collaboration, particularly in 2014 and 2017. He also reminded that during the pandemic, Raj Thackeray had supported then-CM Uddhav.
