Amit Shah's Day-Long Visit to Assam

Guwahati, Dec 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Guwahati on Monday for a one-day visit, during which he is set to inaugurate various infrastructure and cultural initiatives throughout Assam. Notable projects include the Batadrava Cultural Project located in Nagaon district and the Jyoti Bishnu Auditorium in Guwahati.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his enthusiasm on social media, stating, “Honoured to welcome Adarniya @AmitShah ji at Guwahati Airport. His visit signifies a new era of growth and cultural revival for Assam. We eagerly anticipate his insights and guidance as he dedicates significant projects to the people.”

Shah's arrival was initially planned for Sunday night from Ahmedabad; however, fog conditions delayed his flight. Chief Minister Sarma had previously noted the possibility of a delay due to adverse weather while overseeing preparations at Batadrava.

“The fog over Guwahati may postpone the flight. I expect him to arrive by 11:30 pm,” Sarma mentioned.

The Home Minister is traveling to Batadrava Than in Borduwa, Nagaon district, via a Border Security Force helicopter.

At Borduwa, the birthplace of the Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva, Shah will launch a redevelopment project worth Rs 227 crore at the spiritual site. Following this, he is expected to address a public rally at Borduwa.

Afterward, Shah will return to Guwahati to inaugurate the new Rs 111-crore building of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate and the Rs 189-crore Integrated Command and Control System (ICCS), which aims to bolster the city’s security framework.

According to Chief Minister Sarma, the ICCS will oversee more than 2,000 CCTV cameras throughout Guwahati to improve security monitoring and emergency response capabilities in the region.

On the same day, Shah will also inaugurate the Rs 291-crore Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex, an auditorium designed to accommodate 5,000 attendees, before heading back to New Delhi.
