Union Home Minister's Visit to Manipur
IMPHAL, Oct 9: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, has announced his plans to visit Manipur later this month. This information was shared during a meeting with Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh in New Delhi.
In their discussion, the Chief Minister informed Shah about the initiatives undertaken by the State Government aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur, as per a press release from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Khemchand Singh highlighted the resumption of the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, which has significantly eased travel for residents, according to the release.
The Chief Minister also sought Shah's assistance on various matters, to which Shah responded with a commitment to support efforts in achieving peace and development, addressing the needs of the people of Manipur.
Sources indicate that during his visit, the Home Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone for a medical college in Senapati district and oversee several other development initiatives.
Additionally, the Chief Minister met with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to discuss several developmental issues concerning the State.
During this meeting, Khemchand Singh urged Gadkari to commence construction on the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Highway and requested approval for the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal.
He also called on the Union Minister to expedite the ongoing projects on National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 to enhance connectivity in the region.
