Silchar, Apr 6: In anticipation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the Barak Valley on April 7, security measures have been significantly heightened throughout Cachar district. Shah is expected to participate in three major campaign rallies in the area.

Cachar's Senior Superintendent of Police, Sanjib Saikia, informed that comprehensive security protocols have been established in accordance with government guidelines due to the Home Minister's arrival in Silchar on the evening of April 6.

He mentioned that there might be temporary traffic diversions implemented to facilitate safe and efficient movement for the public.

Shah's itinerary includes addressing three significant public gatherings in Sribhumi, Hailakandi, and Silchar, marking the concluding phase of his campaign efforts in the region.

Assam Cabinet Minister Kaushik Rai provided insights into the schedule, stating that the Home Minister will embark on a detailed three-tier campaign across the Barak Valley.

“He will arrive in Silchar on the night of April 6 and commence his activities early the following day. The first rally will be held at Patharkandi LAC in Sribhumi district, followed by another in Hailakandi. The final rally will take place at the Police Ground in Silchar at noon, gathering voters from both Silchar and Udharbond constituencies,” Rai explained.

This Silchar rally will signify the conclusion of Shah's campaign in the Barak Valley for the current elections.

Rai also highlighted that party MPs, MLAs, and grassroots workers are actively connecting with voters across various constituencies, particularly focusing on underprivileged families while emphasizing the commitments outlined in the BJP’s Sankalpa Patra.

This marks Shah's second visit to the region, following his earlier trip in February for the launch of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) in Nathanpur village, Cachar district.
