Pune, July 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to engage in various activities during his one-day visit to Pune, Maharashtra, on Friday. His schedule includes the unveiling of a statue dedicated to Shreemant Thorle Bajirao Peshwa at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, along with the inauguration of a new sports centre.
The bronze statue, standing at 13.5 feet and weighing 4,000 kg, has been generously donated to the NDA by the Shreemath Thorle Bajirao Peshwa Pratishthan. The event will also see the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol.
Arriving in Pune on Thursday night, HM Shah will interact with NDA trainees. Following this, he will inaugurate the Jairaj Sports and Convention Centre located in Kondhwa and visit Balasaheb Deora Hospital at Khadi Machine Chowk. He will also lay the foundation stone for Health City at Wadachiwadi before heading to his next destination.
In preparation for HM Shah’s visit, the district administration has implemented traffic management measures. From noon to 5 p.m. on July 4, all goods transport vehicles, including dumpers, mixers, and heavy trucks, will be restricted from traveling on the route from Mantarwadi Phata to Khadi Machine Chowk and Katraj Chowk. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav has announced that traffic will be redirected from Mor Odha to Circuit House Chowk and I.B. Chowk.
This marks HM Shah’s fifth visit to Maharashtra recently, coinciding with the upcoming local and civic body elections anticipated in October-November. It is also his first visit since the election of the new Maharashtra BJP chief, Ravindra Chavan, on July 1.
Previously, HM Shah urged party members to prepare for the elections to ensure the BJP-led MahaYuti continues its success in the local and civic body elections.
His recent visits include a trip to Pune on February 22, a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Raigad fort on April 12, and attending various functions in Nagpur, Nanded, and Mumbai on May 26 and 27. On June 20, he inaugurated the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture office in Mumbai.
