Amit Shah Visits Tamil Nadu Ahead of Assembly Elections to Energize BJP

Amit Shah's Strategic Visit to Tamil Nadu
Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah arrived in Tamil Nadu on Saturday night to prepare for the upcoming assembly elections next year and to invigorate the party's base.
This marks his second visit to the state in the last two months.
Shah's arrival coincides with a significant meeting held by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) just a week prior, where they passed resolutions criticizing the central government.
His visit comes at a time when the BJP's ally, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), is experiencing internal leadership disputes, and the DMK's ally, the DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam), has expressed dissatisfaction over not receiving a Rajya Sabha seat as promised by the AIADMK for the 2024 elections.
During his trip to Chennai on April 10, Shah had formed an alliance with the AIADMK.
Additionally, former Chief Minister and expelled AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam recently expressed regret over not meeting Shah during his Chennai visit. It remains uncertain whether he will support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
A senior BJP leader asserted that the uncertainty within the NDA and the rift in the PMK will not impact the alliance's electoral prospects in the state.
M. Chakravarthy, the vice president of the party's state unit, stated, 'Differences will be resolved soon, and we will face the elections as a formidable force to defeat the DMK.'
Interestingly, this is Shah's second visit to the state following the appointment of Nainar Nagendran in place of K. Annamalai as the party's state chief.
Nagendran hails from Tirunelveli, a southern district near Madurai.
A source from the BJP indicated that Nagendran will work to unify NDA allies and strive for a coalition victory in the elections.
Alongside Nagendran, former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, former Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, former Minister Sellur K. Raju, and other leaders welcomed the Home Minister at the airport.
Shah shared on the social media platform 'X', 'I have arrived in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. I am eager to meet the enthusiastic workers of the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit at various organizational events tomorrow.'
He will kick off his day's activities with a visit to the renowned Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple and later participate in a core committee meeting of the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit, followed by discussions with party officials.
