Inauguration of the World Archery Para Series 2026

On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the inauguration of the World Archery Para Series 2026, which is set to take place in Ahmedabad from September 5 to 9. During the event, which he attended via video conferencing, Shah emphasized that India's aspirations in sports extend beyond merely achieving high medal counts. The focus is also on enhancing performance in significant international competitions like the Olympics and Asian Games.

Shah highlighted India's commitment to becoming a global center for modern sports infrastructure, training facilities, and sports equipment. He also mentioned the country's efforts to advance in sports engineering and medical science.

India's Ambitious Sports Vision

According to Shah, "India's objective is not solely to secure the highest number of medals but to bolster its competitiveness in international events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, and Police Games." He noted that the training facilities at the sports center hosting the archery event will adhere to international standards, aiming to attract athletes from around the globe.

He further stated, "In the near future, India will emerge as a leader in sports engineering and medical science, becoming a key medical hub for treating and rehabilitating sports injuries."

Embracing Athletes with 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'

Shah expressed that champions are forged through relentless effort, commitment, and a strong desire to succeed. He warmly welcomed athletes from 19 nations, underscoring India's philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', which promotes the idea of the world as one family.

He remarked, "Champions are not solely created through sports, practice, or coaching; they are defined by their victories and unwavering dedication. The essence of becoming a champion lies in the player's spirit and resolve to win. I wish the best for all participants in this competition, which includes athletes from countries such as Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Britain, France, Germany, Indonesia, and the USA."

A Landmark Event for Ahmedabad

Shah concluded by stating that the World Para Archery competition, featuring over 108 para athletes from 19 countries, promises to be a remarkable event for both the participants and the city of Ahmedabad.
