Strengthening Border Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting with police superintendents from 119 districts adjacent to the international border. During the review of measures aimed at enhancing border security infrastructure, Shah emphasized that the government is committed to establishing a robust system to eliminate infiltration. He announced the launch of a demographic mission to identify unusual population growth causes and propose preventive measures for the future. The Modi administration is determined to curb population increases due to abnormal reasons.

Shah stated that the conference would address border security issues, seek solutions to current challenges, and develop appropriate policy measures. He mentioned that in the near future, a comprehensive approach would be taken to ensure coastal border security. The government is creating a strong multi-faceted security grid by uniting security forces, state and district administrations, relevant officials from the central government, and local citizens. He further noted that India's border security system, based on the vision of a 'smart border,' will become one of the most advanced in the world.

He asserted that a secure border, prosperous border areas, and a vigilant society are essential for ensuring national security and progress. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the country has achieved liberation from Naxalism and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast, marking a collective success. He also stated that the government would take a strong stance against drug-related issues and aims to achieve victory over them in the next three years.

Reflecting on the previous administrations, Shah remarked that while problems remained permanent, their solutions were temporary. However, under the Modi government, efforts are being made to tackle the root causes of issues and establish lasting solutions. The Modi administration has increased border infrastructure by up to 400 percent. Present at the meeting were Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Band Sanjay Kumar, Central Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Mahesh Dixit, police chiefs from border states, and several senior officials.
