Amit Shah's Bold Claims on West Bengal Election Results

During a press conference in Kolkata on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made significant assertions regarding the election outcomes in West Bengal. He stated that the remarkable voter turnout of 92.88% in the first phase is a clear indication that the people of the state are determined to oust Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) from power. Shah confidently predicted that the Chief Minister and her TMC government would face a severe defeat in the elections. He remarked, "Based on the feedback we've received, the voters in West Bengal have already made their decision in the first phase. The 92.98% turnout across 52 seats in 16 districts shows that 'Didi's' exit is certain, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to come to power. Fear will be replaced by trust."

BJP's Ambitious Seat Predictions

Shah emphasized that the BJP is on track to win over 110 seats in the first phase of the assembly elections. Addressing the media in Kolkata, he stated, "After assessing the situation with committee members last night, we estimate that the BJP will secure more than 110 seats out of 152. This indicates that after the second phase of voting, we are on the path to forming a BJP government in Bengal."

Acknowledging a Peaceful Voting Process

He also expressed gratitude to the Election Commission, local police, and security forces for ensuring a free and fair voting process. Shah noted, "I would like to thank the Election Commission, CAPF, and Bengal police, as this was the first election in a long time where no lives were lost. The elections were conducted peacefully. After the first phase, it is clear that the voters of Bengal have chosen development." He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the journey of development will now reach Bengal, and the people will be part of it.

BJP's Chief Ministerial Candidate

Discussing the BJP's candidate for Chief Minister, Shah addressed rumors spread by the current Chief Minister, asserting that if the BJP comes to power, outsiders would govern. He stated, "I want to tell Didi that the next Chief Minister of Bengal will be someone born in Bengal, who has studied in Bengali medium, and who can speak Bengali... The only difference is that your nephew will not be there; the CM will be a BJP worker."
