Amit Shah Outlines BJP's Ambitions for Kerala Assembly Elections
BJP's Vision for Kerala
During a recent address to newly elected representatives of local bodies in Kerala, Union Home Minister Amit Shah articulated the party's objectives for the upcoming assembly elections. He acknowledged that the journey for the BJP in Kerala has been challenging, yet thanks to the dedication of its workers, the party has established a significant presence in the state.
Shah emphasized that the ultimate aim of the BJP is not merely to win elections but to form a government in Kerala and appoint a BJP Chief Minister.
Critique of Current Political Landscape
In his speech, Shah criticized the existing political scenario in Kerala, claiming that the state is currently experiencing stagnation due to the collusion between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF). He accused these parties of having a tacit agreement to alternate power while engaging in corrupt practices. According to him, the future of Kerala is not secure with these parties, as they have failed to uphold the state's traditions and foster development.
Commitment to a Safer Kerala
Shah presented statistics showcasing the BJP's growing influence, noting that the party's vote share rose from 11% in 2014 to 16% in 2019, with projections indicating it could exceed 20% in 2024. He encouraged party workers by drawing parallels to the BJP's success in forming a government at the center after starting with just two seats, suggesting that a similar history could unfold in Kerala.
Targeting LDF and UDF
The Home Minister also targeted the LDF and UDF, stating that these parties are hesitant to take action against organizations like the PFI and SDPI due to their focus on vote bank politics. He asserted that only the BJP can protect Kerala from such anti-national forces. Citing the example of the triple talaq law, Shah pointed out that opposition parties resisted it due to appeasement politics, while the BJP adheres to the principle of 'justice for all, appeasement for none.'
