Inauguration of Heritage Park
On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated a public park named 'Heritage' located on the eastern bank of the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad. This beautiful park has been developed by the UNM Foundation, a charitable organization associated with the Torrent Group.
According to a statement released by the UNM Foundation, the park was constructed with the support of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of ₹10 crores. Spanning an area of 20,000 square meters, the park is situated between the Swami Vivekananda Bridge and the Nehru Bridge. This is the 12th public park developed and maintained under the foundation's 'Prateeti' urban renewal initiative. A notable feature of the park is the installation of five permanent artworks and exhibitions that showcase Ahmedabad's historical and cultural evolution.
Under the 'Prateeti' initiative, the UNM Foundation has revitalized and maintained 17 parks, two lakes, and other green spaces across Gujarat, covering a total area of 8.44 lakh square meters. Additionally, the organization has taken responsibility for the restoration and upkeep of 69 lakes in and around Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The foundation has reported that its social initiatives in health, education, environment, art, and culture have benefited over 25 million people across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Daman.
