On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recognized the achievements of security personnel involved in Operation Mahadev, which successfully eliminated all three assailants responsible for the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Shah expressed his pride on social media, stating that the nation salutes its brave soldiers. He emphasized the honor of acknowledging the security forces who executed Operation Mahadev and brought an end to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack.


Details of Operation Mahadev

On July 28, a joint operation resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists, known as Operation Mahadev. This mission was carried out by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, targeting the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians on April 22. On July 29, the Home Minister confirmed that the security forces had eliminated the terrorists linked to the civilian killings during Operation Mahadev. He made this statement while addressing the Lok Sabha amidst discussions on Operation Sindoor, highlighting that those responsible for the deaths of innocent citizens had been dealt with.


Condemnation of Terrorism

While addressing the lower house, Shah reiterated that during the joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully neutralized the three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. He condemned the brutal act of targeting innocent civilians based on their religion, expressing condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.


Background of Operation Mahadev

Prior to Operation Mahadev, the Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in 26 fatalities. This operation targeted terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists.
