Citizenship Announcement by Amit Shah

On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that citizenship has been granted to 200 refugees from Pakistan and Afghanistan under the Citizenship Amendment Act. He emphasized that Hindu refugees possess the same rights in India as the Prime Minister. Speaking at the 'Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar: Char Saal Bemisaal' event, Shah stated that nearly 200 individuals from these countries received citizenship today. He recalled the opposition faced from various parties, including Congress, SP, BSP, Mamata Banerjee, and DMK, when the CAA was introduced.

Rights of Hindu Refugees

Shah reiterated that Hindu refugees from Afghanistan and Pakistan have equal rights in the country as Prime Minister Modi. He criticized the politics of appeasement that previously deprived them of their rights. Specifically addressing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he asserted that the government would continue the citizenship process despite protests. "Rahul Baba, no matter how much you oppose, we will grant citizenship to these individuals," he declared.

Changes in the Indian Legal System

Highlighting changes since colonial times, the Home Minister discussed reforms in India's justice system, stressing that outdated laws have been repealed in favor of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). He announced that by 2028, all laws would be fully implemented. Additionally, he noted that with the completion of four years of the Dhami administration, the BJP's nine-year rule in the state is also concluding.

Recognition of Uttarakhand's Cultural Struggles

Shah praised the youth who fought for the identity of Uttarakhand, accusing Congress and the Samajwadi Party of suppressing these efforts during the statehood movement. He reflected on a time when the state was struggling for its identity and rights, noting that local youth fought to preserve Uttarakhand's culture. He credited former BJP ministers and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for their efforts in the formation of Uttarakhand.
