Amit Shah Criticizes Congress and DMK Over Women's Reservation Bill
Amit Shah's Strong Critique in Lok Sabha
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce attack on the Congress party and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) during a Lok Sabha session on Sunday, accusing them of betraying women by voting against the Women's Reservation Amendment Bill. He emphasized that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not allow this 'conspiracy' to succeed and is committed to ensuring justice for women in the country.
Support for BJP Candidate in Upcoming Elections
The senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed confidence in a roadshow held in support of his party's candidate, Krithika Shivkumar, for the upcoming assembly elections on April 23. He asserted that after the elections, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) under the leadership of E. K. Palaniswami would form the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state.
Allegations Against Congress and DMK
Shah stated, "The Congress and DMK have certainly deprived the mothers and sisters of Tamil Nadu of reservation in Parliament and assemblies. There was an opportunity for a 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats for Tamil Nadu, but by insisting on increasing seats based on the 2026 census, they have plotted to reduce Tamil Nadu's representation." He reassured the people of Tamil Nadu on behalf of Prime Minister Modi that they would not allow this conspiracy to succeed and would ensure justice for the women of the state.
Criticism of Family Politics
Targeting the ruling DMK, Shah criticized what he termed 'dynastic politics.' He remarked, "Chief Minister Stalin is solely focused on making his son (Udhayanidhi) the Chief Minister. First Karunanidhi, then Stalin, and now his son. Such dynastic parties cannot contribute positively to Tamil Nadu's democracy."
Addressing Corruption and Law and Order
Shah also condemned the DMK for alleged corruption and issues related to law and order. He stated, "Once the AIADMK and BJP form the government in the state, the DMK's corrupt rule will come to an end. We will improve law and order in Tamil Nadu, just as we have in other states. Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, we will strive to restore Tamil Nadu's lost dignity."
Encouragement for Party Support
He praised the enthusiastic support for the BJP, urging the public to vote for Krithika with a significant margin in the assembly constituency. Shah shared on social media, "There is enthusiastic support for the BJP in Tamil Nadu. Live broadcast from the roadshow in Erode South."
