Amit Shah's Address to BJP Legislators in Kolkata
During a meeting with BJP legislators in Kolkata, Amit Shah extended his congratulations to all attendees, including the newly appointed Chief Minister of Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari. He acknowledged the numerous incidents of violence and intimidation but emphasized that the people of Bengal have placed their trust in the BJP during the elections. Shah expressed heartfelt gratitude to the citizens of Bengal, stating that the atmosphere created during the communist era had been exacerbated by Mamata Banerjee, making voting nearly impossible. He expressed his deep appreciation for the overwhelming victory achieved by the BJP and its leader, Narendra Modi.
Shah further stated that the party is committed to fulfilling the expectations that the people of Bengal have placed upon them, which led to this mandate. He asserted that the BJP aims to bring about a transformation in Bengal's democratic framework. According to him, the state has been grappling with the erosion of democracy, a decline in law and order, economic weakness, and sluggish development for the past fifty years. He believes that Bengal is now entering a new era.
Amit Shah highlighted that the BJP currently governs Tripura and Assam, and now Bengal as well, asserting that issues like infiltration and cattle smuggling will soon become impossible. He assured that both the Bengal government and the Indian government will fortify this border, transforming it into an impregnable fortress for national security. He urged all BJP workers to strive towards the goal of 'Sonar Bangla' and meet the expectations of the people of Bengal. He quoted the poet, stating that a path has been paved for a Bengal where people can live without fear and hold their heads high, affirming that Bengal is on this path.
Shah recalled the joy among BJP workers when Article 370 was revoked, noting that some senior members expressed that there was still work to be done. When he inquired what remained, they indicated that raising the BJP flag in Bengal was still pending. He believes that Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee would be blessing PM Modi's leadership from wherever he is, as Modi has led the BJP from the Ganges to the Sagar.
He thanked the voters of Bhabanipur for their historic mandate and took a jab at the outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying, 'Didi, this time Suvendu da has defeated you right in your own home.' He pointed out that opposition leaders are often denied the opportunity to speak about the livelihoods and employment of the people, and they are not allowed to express the sentiments of the public. Nevertheless, the ruling party has been reduced to zero in nine districts, a feat he attributes to divine grace and the support of the people of Bengal.
