Amit Shah Assures Security in Northeast Amid Infiltration Concerns

Union Home Minister's Assurance on Northeast Security

Guwahati, June 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the Northeast region is secure and immune to disruptions from both internal and external threats. He reaffirmed the government's dedication to eliminating infiltrators from the country.

In a detailed interview, Shah discussed various pressing topics, including the ongoing efforts to combat illegal infiltration, Assam's aspirations to become an industrial center, wildlife conservation initiatives, and Operation Sindoor.

Interviewer: With the current infiltration challenges in Assam, is the deportation process going to continue? What is the ultimate goal?

Amit Shah: Our goal is to eliminate infiltrators from our nation. The method we are using for deportation is uniquely ours.

Interviewer: There is uncertainty about the number of Bangladeshis present here. What steps are being taken moving forward?

Shah: We are monitoring the situation closely. Our aim remains clear – to rid our country of infiltrators.

Interviewer: Considering the political instability in Bangladesh and its increasing ties with China, how prepared are we to address potential disturbances, particularly in Northeast India?

Shah: No one can disrupt the peace in Northeast India. The region is entirely secure from both internal and external threats.

Interviewer: Recently, the NIA and state authorities apprehended jihadi elements in Assam. Does this indicate that such groups can still operate within the state?

Shah: This is an ongoing situation. When I assert that the Northeast is safe from threats, it includes Assam. Any attempts to harm the region will be met with strict legal action through agencies like the NIA.

Interviewer: The chief advisor of Bangladesh made comments about Northeast India being landlocked and mentioned breaking the ‘chicken neck’. What are your thoughts?

Shah: Such remarks are not taken seriously. You seem to be the only one considering it a significant topic by asking this question.

Interviewer: What about the individuals who were removed from Satra lands? What if they encroach on other lands?

Shah: Clearing Satra land was a significant accomplishment. In areas governed by the BJP, encroachers and infiltrators will not be allowed to settle.

Interviewer: Can you provide an update on the situation in Manipur?

Shah: Regarding the violence in Manipur, it has nearly ceased. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs is actively supporting both the Kukis and Meiteis, and there have been two rounds of joint discussions. I am hopeful that a peaceful resolution will be reached soon.
