Amit Shah's Rally in Assam

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, addressed a large gathering in the Dhekiajuli assembly of Sonitpur district, Assam. During his speech, he emphasized the importance of security, employment, and development for the state. Shah urged the public to vote not just for a Chief Minister or ministers but to ensure Assam is completely free from illegal immigrants.

Shah's Remarks on Illegal Immigration

Shah acknowledged that while there has been success in preventing new illegal immigration over the past decade, many undocumented individuals still reside in the state. He pledged that if the BJP comes to power for a third term, every illegal immigrant will be identified and expelled within the next five years. He stated that these immigrants are unlawfully occupying jobs and resources that belong to the youth of Assam.

Claim of a Terror-Free Assam

Targeting the Congress party, Shah remarked that during their rule, Assam experienced only bomb blasts and violence. In contrast, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the BJP has liberated Assam from terrorism, helping nearly 10,000 youths abandon arms and reintegrate into society. He asserted that Assam today is progressing towards peace and industrial growth.

Discussion on National Security

Shah raised concerns about national security, stating that during Congress's tenure, terrorists from Pakistan carried out attacks. He referenced significant military operations such as the 'Surgical Strike' post-Uri, the 'Air Strike' after Pulwama, and 'Operation Sindoor' following the Pahalgam attack, highlighting how these actions have eradicated terrorists. He questioned Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi about whether he stands with the illegal immigrants or against them.

Honoring Assam's Legends

Shah paid tribute to Assam's prominent figures like Gopinath Bordoloi and Bhupen Hazarika, accusing Congress of neglecting them. He noted that Bordoloi played a crucial role in preventing Assam from merging with East Pakistan, yet Congress did not award him the Bharat Ratna, which was conferred during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government. Similarly, he mentioned that 'Bhupen Da' was also honored with the Bharat Ratna by the Modi administration.
