Alyssa Healy's Final International Appearance

Alyssa Healy, the veteran Australian cricketer, is poised to conclude her international career after leading her team in a one-off Pink-Ball Test against India, commencing this Friday at the WACA Stadium in Perth. This match is particularly significant as it marks the inaugural Pink-Ball Women's Test at this renowned venue.

Reflecting on a Remarkable Journey

In a moment of reflection, Healy shared, "Writing Lucy Hamilton's cap presentation made me emotional. It reminded me of the hard work that goes into earning your cap and debuting for Australia. I feel fortunate to have experienced this for 16 years, even if I sometimes took it for granted. Writing someone else's speech was a meaningful moment for me to acknowledge how special this journey has been." Healy presented the 19-year-old Lucy Hamilton with her first cap during the third ODI against India in Hobart last Sunday, where Australia triumphed by 185 runs, completing a clean sweep of the ODI series after a 1-2 loss in the T20I series.

Looking Forward to Life Beyond Cricket

As she approaches her final Test, the 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batter expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "I genuinely don’t foresee any sadness. I’m truly excited about life after cricket and grateful for the experiences I’ve had. I’m eager to see what the future holds, which is more thrilling than anything else."

Healy humorously added, "I’m not aiming for a duck. If I score three figures, that’s great, but ultimately, I want to contribute to the team's success, and we’ll see how it goes."

High Stakes in the Series Finale

Australia enters this match with an 8-4 lead in the multi-format series. A win in a white-ball match earns two points, while a Test match victory awards four points. India’s women still have a chance to level the series with a win in this Test.

Healy also conveyed her excitement for the upcoming four-day Test, saying, "I’m really looking forward to what promises to be an exciting four days of cricket. Whatever happens, happens. I understand that not everyone gets to retire on their own terms, so this is a fantastic opportunity to retire at home while wearing a baggy green."

The Pink-Ball Test will conclude the multi-format series between these two rivals. While Australia only needs a draw to claim overall series honors, India aims to replicate their historic first-ever Test victory against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in December 2023.
