Claims of Misconduct in Ram Mandir Donations

On Friday, BJP leader and founder of the Bajrang Dal, Vinay Katiyar, asserted that if irregularities are uncovered during the ongoing investigation, former General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, Administrator Gopal Rao, and former trustee Anil Mishra could face imprisonment. Katiyar indicated that both Champat Rai and Anil Mishra might soon find themselves behind bars.

Allegations of Fund Misappropriation

In a conversation with a news media outlet, Katiyar alleged that funds donated by devotees have been misappropriated. He mentioned that he had discussed this issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to him, the situation has reached a point where the law must take its course, and those responsible should not escape justice.

Investigation Extended by SIT

Katiyar noted that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of donations for the temple has been granted an additional 15 days to complete its investigation. He stated that today marks the second day of the inquiry, and the SIT has been officially allowed more time to broaden its investigation into every aspect of the alleged donation fraud.

Police Intensifies Investigation in Ayodhya

The Uttar Pradesh police have accelerated their investigation into the alleged misappropriation of Ram Mandir donations. Authorities are currently interrogating the accused, Avinash Shukla, at the Special Operations Group (SOG) office in Ayodhya. Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari and several other officials are overseeing this questioning. Shukla, who is reportedly linked to the counting of offerings received at the Ram Mandir, was presented in court on Thursday, which subsequently placed him under 24-hour police remand for further questioning.

Background of the Investigation

The controversy erupted following the filing of an FIR on June 25, alleging misappropriation of donations found at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Since then, investigating officers have been scrutinizing the accounts and management of the temple's donations.
