Fraudulent Activities Reported at PNB in Greater Noida

In Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, a significant case has emerged involving the Punjab National Bank (PNB), where account holders have reported missing funds amounting to crores of rupees. Customers at the branch located in Sector Pi-1 have raised concerns regarding their accounts and fixed deposits (FDs). Allegations suggest that some FDs were prematurely withdrawn without the account holders' consent, with the funds transferred to other accounts. Following these revelations, the bank's management has suspended five employees, including the branch manager, while both police and the bank's anti-corruption team are conducting investigations.

Missing Funds Despite Large Balances

One account holder reported that approximately ₹94 lakh was deposited in their father's account. When the family attempted to withdraw funds due to an urgent need, they were informed that there was insufficient balance. Upon further inquiry, they discovered only ₹16,000 remained in the account. Consequently, the family lodged a complaint with the police. Relatives of the account holder have expressed their concerns to bank officials and are awaiting the return of their funds.

Allegations of Premature FD Withdrawals

In another instance, a customer mentioned that their mother's account received around ₹1.29 crore as compensation for land acquisition. After withdrawing some funds as needed, they expected over ₹1 crore to remain in the account. However, upon checking, they found no funds available. This incident has raised alarms about potential irregularities within the bank.

Suspension of Employees Amid Investigation

Customers have accused the bank of prematurely breaking their fixed deposits without their knowledge or consent, leading to suspicions that the funds were redirected to other accounts. The exact process of how the money was withdrawn, the accounts involved, and the individuals responsible will be clarified only after a thorough investigation.

In response to the complaints, senior bank officials visited the branch and assured affected customers that their issues would be addressed. The bank has also appointed new staff members at the branch. However, it remains unclear how many account holders have been affected and the total amount involved in the alleged discrepancies.

Ongoing Police and Bank Investigations

Given the seriousness of the situation, the bank's regional office has suspended the branch manager and four other employees. An inquiry is underway to investigate the alleged irregularities and the roles of the employees involved. The suspensions are considered administrative actions during the investigation and do not imply guilt.

According to the Noida Police Commissionerate, directives have been issued to relevant authorities to resolve the complaints related to the bank and to investigate the matter. The police are currently working to determine how the funds went missing and the involvement of various parties in this case.

Customer Concerns Heightened

Many account holders have expressed anxiety over their deposits, with some families indicating that the missing funds represent their life savings or compensation from land acquisition. The reports of missing money have raised significant concerns among customers.

At present, investigations by the police, bank management, and the anti-corruption team are ongoing. The inquiry will include a review of bank records, documents related to the FDs, and transaction details. The independent verification of the allegations and the exact extent of the financial loss remain unclear. Only after the investigation concludes will it be determined how the alleged financial misconduct occurred and what measures will be taken to recover the account holders' funds.
