Allegations of Attempted Rape and Assault in Agra: Woman Files Complaint Against Brother-in-Law

The woman, who returned to her in-laws' house due to a dispute with her husband, has made serious allegations against her brother-in-law regarding an attempted sexual assault. Following the police commissioner's orders, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Tajganj police station. This incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of women in their marital homes.

According to the complainant, she was married to a man from the Tajganj area. Shortly after the marriage, her husband and in-laws began demanding dowry, which eventually led to her being thrown out of the house. Subsequently, she filed a case in court for domestic violence and maintenance.

The court, after hearing the case, ordered her husband to provide her with a monthly maintenance of ₹2500 and allowed her to reside in her shared household. In compliance with this order, the police dropped her off at her in-laws' home on April 23.

The complainant stated that on the same night, while she was in her room, her brother-in-law entered and allegedly made obscene advances towards her and attempted to rape her. When her husband intervened, the brother-in-law reportedly assaulted both the victim and her husband. The woman also claimed that her brother-in-law choked her and pulled her hair.

Fleeing for her life, the woman raised an alarm, prompting her mother-in-law and brother-in-law to arrive at the scene. She alleged that her complaint to the police was initially ignored. However, after the intervention of the police commissioner, an FIR was finally registered at the Tajganj police station.
