Allahabad High Court Issues Notice on Marriage Center in Lawyers' Chamber

Court's Action on Marriage Center Controversy
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, the Central Bar Association, the state government, and the High Court administration regarding a public interest petition concerning the operation of a marriage center in a chamber allocated for lawyers at the old High Court premises in Kaiserbagh.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 22. This decision was made by Justices A.R. Masoodi and Sriprakash Singh, following a public interest petition that was registered after the court took suo motu cognizance during a hearing of a criminal writ petition.
Upon reviewing a police report, the court discovered that the chamber had been decorated with flowers and arrangements were made for a wedding. Given the seriousness of the situation, the court directed the registrar to register the matter as a public interest petition.
During the hearing of the public interest petition, the court determined that it was essential to hear the perspectives of the High Court administration, the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, the Central Bar Association, and the state government, leading to the issuance of notices to all parties involved.
