Court Stays Arrest of Yash Dayal

The Allahabad High Court provided significant interim relief on Tuesday by halting the arrest of Yash Dayal, a fast bowler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This decision was made following a plea from Dayal after an FIR was lodged against him on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. The allegations pertain to Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses sexual relations obtained through deceit.

Judicial Remarks and Future Proceedings

A bench comprising Justices Siddharth Varma and Anil Kumar oversaw the proceedings. During the session, the judges commented,

“You could have been fooled for 1 day, 2 days, 3 days…but 5 years…you are entering into a relationship for 5 years…one can’t be fooled for 5 years.”

The court has scheduled the case for a later date and has prohibited any police action until then. The complaint alleges that Dayal maintained a relationship with the woman for five years, repeatedly promising marriage while purportedly being involved with other individuals.

Yash Dayal's Counter Complaint

In a related legal action, Yash Dayal filed a counter complaint at the Khuldabad police station in Prayagraj, seeking to register an FIR against the woman who accused him. Reports indicate that he alleged she stole an iPhone and a laptop from him. Additionally, he claimed she borrowed substantial amounts of money under the guise of medical emergencies and did not repay them.

Senior advocate Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi, along with lawyers Gaurav Tripathi and Raghuvansh Mishra, represented Dayal in court. The fast bowler, who gained recognition with RCB, stated that he first met the woman through Instagram four years ago. The case is developing, with both parties presenting conflicting narratives.
