Akhilesh Yadav Calls for Voter Unity

On Thursday, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, appealed to voters and 'PDA guardians' to prevent the fragmentation of votes from the PDA community ahead of the upcoming elections. He emphasized the importance of unity with the slogan, "Not a single vote should be divided, not a single vote should be lost." Yadav warned that the ruling BJP government could exploit names missing from voter lists, potentially depriving citizens of access to government schemes, jobs, ration cards, land, and other rights. He urged voters to treat their voter ID as a crucial form of identification and to remain vigilant during the voting process.

Protecting Votes and Rights

He further stated that safeguarding votes is essential not only for ousting the "corrupt government" but also for protecting constitutional rights, reservations, and property. Yadav encouraged all members of the PDA society to actively participate in the democratic process, stating, "Cast your vote, save your future." He shared a message on social media, urging voters and PDA guardians to thwart any attempts to divide the PDA society's votes. Despite efforts from 'PDA guardians', millions of votes from the PDA society are still at risk of division. He called for thorough scrutiny at every polling station, reiterating the need for unity under the slogan, "Not a single vote should be divided, not a single vote should be lost."

Concerns Over Election Integrity

Yadav accused the BJP government of playing a game of uncontested elections and stated that they would do anything to divide votes, as their hidden agenda is to win elections, form a government, and then engage in corruption while seizing water, forests, and land. He urged the PDA community to reflect on their situation: despite having the right to vote and form a government, they still face significant oppression. He questioned how much more they would suffer if the decisive power of voting is not in the hands of the 'PDA society'. He warned that these oppressive forces would establish a government at will and destroy the Constitution, which serves as their shield. Protecting one's vote means safeguarding the Constitution and the rights to reservations and employment.

Concerns Raised Over Voter List Changes

Earlier, on Tuesday, both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party expressed serious concerns over the removal of 2.89 crore voters from the draft electoral rolls under the Uttar Pradesh Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Ajay Rai, the state Congress president, described it as a "major conspiracy" and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.
