Akhilesh Yadav's Vision for Ayodhya
In Uttar Pradesh, the upcoming assembly elections in 2027 have prompted Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav to outline his party's plans for Ayodhya if they come to power. Amidst political turmoil surrounding alleged financial irregularities in the Ram Temple donations, Yadav stated that a future SP government would transform Ayodhya into a model religious city, where pilgrims from around the globe can experience "true spirituality."
Yadav emphasized that the SP would work diligently to restore Ayodhya's spiritual identity while safeguarding the rights and traditional pride of its residents. He expressed on social media that with a commitment to justice and integrity, the new government would develop Ayodhya into a unique religious destination, allowing visitors to feel the authentic essence of spirituality. With the blessings of Lord Ram, he aims to reinforce Ayodhya's ancient spiritual identity as 'Siyaram Dham,' based on faith, devotion, and genuine reverence, while also restoring the dignity and rights of the local populace.
These statements are viewed as an effort by the Samajwadi Party to connect with voters ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Yadav's remarks come at a time when a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing alleged discrepancies in the donations for the Ram Temple. Reports indicate that CCTV footage recorded between April 27 and June 5 has revealed nearly 70 attempted thefts at the donation counting center. The investigation has also uncovered deficiencies in internal controls, record-keeping, and monitoring during the counting process.
Investigators claim that footage shows a person named Manish Kumar Yadav repeatedly attempting to steal cash, yet no immediate action was taken against him. So far, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including Ramashankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav, who is identified as the main suspect by investigators.
