Akhilesh Yadav Critiques PM Modi's Kanpur Visit and Development Projects

Akhilesh Yadav's Remarks on PM Modi's Visit

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Kanpur, Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), expressed his criticism. He pointed out that the current BJP government continues to inaugurate projects initiated by the previous SP administration. Yadav took to social media to highlight that despite the years of BJP rule, they are still cutting ribbons on SP's developmental works. He mentioned significant projects such as the Panki Thermal Expansion Project, Neyveli Lignite Power Plant, and the Kanpur Metro as examples of SP's contributions to the public.

Modi's Inauguration of Major Development Projects

Yadav sarcastically remarked that the BJP is celebrating achievements that were laid down by the SP. He questioned whether the BJP has any plans for the Lal Imli area in Kanpur. On Friday, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for 15 major development projects worth over ₹47,600 crores in Kanpur. He officially opened the new underground section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, which runs from Chunniganj to Kanpur Central, featuring five new underground stations: Chunniganj, Bada Chauraha, Naveen Market, Nayaganj, and Kanpur Central. This metro expansion will connect key locations such as Lal Imli, Z Square Mall, Green Park Stadium, Parade Ground, Book Market, and Somdatt Plaza directly to the metro line.

Enhancements in Metro Connectivity and Power Supply

According to a statement, currently, nine stations from IIT-Kanpur to Moti Jheel are operational. The new metro section is expected to make travel within the city more convenient, faster, and safer. Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated a 660 MW power unit in Ghatampur and a thermal power project in Panki, which will ensure a stable and adequate power supply for Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states. Furthermore, two new railway bridges from the Panki power plant to Kalyanpur were also inaugurated.
