Akhilesh Yadav Critiques BJP's Governance and Advocates for Constitutional Values
Akhilesh Yadav's Stance on Democracy and the Constitution
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has joined the chorus of opposition leaders criticizing the BJP and its allies. In a recent post on X, he claimed that those opposing democracy are the ones aiming to establish a rule by a single individual. He emphasized that the nation's motto should be 'Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer, Hail the Constitution.' According to him, discussions about the Constitution should transcend political divides, uniting everyone in a common cause. He described the Constitution not merely as a book but as the very foundation of the nation.
Yadav expressed concern that it is tragic for democracy that the Parliament is engaged in debates about preserving the Constitution, rather than focusing on advancing the country in accordance with it. He warned that a crisis regarding the Constitution signifies a looming threat to democracy itself. Those who seek to undermine the Constitution are, in fact, attempting to weaken democracy, and the true opponents of democracy are those who wish to impose a singular rule.
He reiterated that the country should operate according to the Constitution, not based on individual whims. The Constitution grants rights, and those who wish to suppress these rights are attempting to negate the Constitution. He has stated this multiple times and reiterated today that the Constitution is vital for the nation. It possesses the power to improve and sustain the country. The Constitution serves as the guiding principle of democracy, and thus, it is our duty to uphold it. He further noted that the Constitution guides the coalition of marginalized groups, which his party claims to support.
Yadav added that the Constitution is a beacon for the marginalized, ensuring dignity and respect for individuals. It protects society from exploitation and oppression while punishing the oppressors. Therefore, for the marginalized, the Constitution represents their last hope. It acts as a shield and a source of strength. The Constitution is the true guardian of the rights of the 90% of the population that is oppressed, neglected, and deprived. It is the greatest ally, making its protection a matter of life and death for the marginalized. For those who do not respect the Constitution, it is merely a blank page.
