Akhilesh Yadav's Remarks on Education Minister's Resignation

New Delhi, July 28 - Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), took a jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He stated that the BJP managed to save Prime Minister Narendra Modi by accepting Pradhan's resignation. During a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the 'Lok Exam (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026', Yadav criticized the BJP, questioning their ability to prevent paper leaks when they couldn't even stop donations from being misappropriated at the Ram Temple. He referenced the protests by students at Jantar Mantar, asserting that 'the government bends, but only needs someone to push it.'

Yadav remarked, 'When the former Education Minister (Pradhan) returned to the Lok Sabha, he was welcomed outside the house. We have no complaints about that. How relieved the honorable members must have felt... By removing one Pradhan, you (BJP) saved the Prime Minister.'

The SP leader expressed his congratulations to the new generation for forcing the BJP to yield. He noted that when the government becomes anxious and fearful, it tends to accept demands. Yadav highlighted that this was the first movement where not only students but also their parents participated.

He further criticized the BJP regarding the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Temple, stating, 'Those who couldn't prevent the donations from being stolen, how can they stop paper leaks?' Yadav pointed out several incidents of paper leaks in Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing that such situations arise from the Prime Minister's own constituency. He mentioned the outsourcing of staff at the National Testing Agency (NTA), expressing concern that the entire government might eventually be outsourced.

Yadav accused the government of attempting to homogenize education and educational institutions. He alleged that the government is closing primary schools to prevent backward, Dalit, and poor children from receiving an education.

He stated that Uttar Pradesh has seen the closure of 26,386 primary schools, the highest in the country. Yadav also referenced administrative orders to demolish several buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, which was established in honor of freedom fighter Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, and lamented the attempts to destroy it. The SP MP questioned where the BJP's politics of hatred would lead the country.

He concluded by asserting that the demands of students and youth should be heard.
