Akhilesh Yadav's Strong Critique of UP Government
On May 26, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, launched a scathing attack on the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath. He accused the administration of establishing a criminal network through fake encounters and misusing police personnel for political gains. During a press conference, Yadav asserted that the government abandons police officers involved in these encounters after their deployment. Referring to the Gorakhpur fake encounter case, he noted that several police officers have been imprisoned while the government has distanced itself from them.
Yadav claimed that a complete criminal structure has emerged through these fake encounters. He criticized certain lawyers for exaggerating the incidents and fabricating stories. When police officers become embroiled in these fake encounters, the government turns its back on them. He highlighted that many officers are currently in jail due to the Gorakhpur fake encounter case. According to him, the BJP government punishes guilty police personnel but then disassociates itself from them. He emphasized that the government is exploiting police officers for its own benefit, warning that their families may eventually view them as murderers.
Furthermore, Yadav stated that police officials involved in fake encounters will face lifelong consequences. He condemned this practice as undemocratic and accused the government of exerting psychological pressure through it. He remarked that police officers who commit murder in fake encounters are slowly dying each day. Many officials have taken advantage of the fear surrounding encounters to commit crimes against women. He pointed out that the fear of fake encounters deters investment, ultimately harming even the BJP's own supporters. He also mentioned that caste-based fake encounters are occurring.
Yadav explained that encounters are typically referred to as clashes, where there should be no place for violent or criminal activities. He argued that a 'mental software' is established through fake encounters, but it is not updated. This leads to incitement of violence among the populace, with murder being portrayed as an act of violence. He firmly stated that fake encounters are wrong and against democratic principles, asserting that the government is misusing its power through these actions, which is evident in various regions.
