Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Government After Women's Reservation Bill Fails
Akhilesh Yadav's Strong Reactions to the Bill's Failure
Following the collapse of the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has sharply criticized the central government. He stated that the BJP has lost its moral right to remain in power. Yadav accused the BJP of not genuinely supporting women's welfare but rather deceiving them through this legislation.
'A Conspiracy to Strip Rights, Not Reservation'
The Sapa leader clarified that his opposition is not to reservation itself but to the BJP's ill intentions. He asserted that instead of providing 33% reservation, the BJP aimed to take away women's rights. Yadav pointed out that the bill concealed political motives aimed at vote banking and that the BJP was reluctant to reveal caste-based data through a census. He claimed success in the fight to protect democracy.
Symbolic Reservation Will Not Bring Real Change
Akhilesh Yadav emphasized that merely enacting laws is insufficient for empowering women. He argued that without addressing social barriers, breaking the mental shackles imposed by familial responsibilities, and boosting women's confidence from school level, this reservation would remain merely symbolic. He believes true leadership will emerge only when women's representation is accurately counted and their rightful claims are recognized.
