Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP Over Inflation and Election Integrity
Akhilesh Yadav's Strong Critique of BJP
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has once again launched a fierce attack on the BJP. During a press conference in Lucknow on Sunday, he targeted the government over rising inflation, labeling the BJP as deceitful. He stated that the party constructs layers of lies, akin to a sweet delicacy made of deceit.
Yadav warned that post-elections, the prices of petrol and gas would soar, affecting the cost of living for everyone. He pointed out that air travel is becoming increasingly expensive, with reports of airlines discontinuing services on certain routes due to high fuel costs.
‘BJP Has Done Nothing to Curb Inflation’
He emphasized that the rise in petrol, diesel, and gas prices leads to a significant increase in the cost of all goods, including food. Yadav criticized the BJP for failing to control inflation and allowing their affiliates to profit excessively, which he believes is a contributing factor to the rising costs.
Akhilesh Questions the Election Commission
Addressing the Election Commission, Yadav remarked that it is a constitutional body expected to operate impartially. He expressed concerns about the commission's neutrality, citing instances during the elections in Rampur where officials appeared to be manipulated. He accused the BJP of rehearsing tactics with the Election Commission that were later implemented in Bengal.
‘Didi Was There in Bengal and Will Remain’
He mentioned the establishment of a parallel security force in Bengal, asserting that the elections belong to the people. Yadav confidently stated that 'Didi' (referring to Mamata Banerjee) was present in Bengal and would continue to be.
Concerns Over EVM Integrity
Yadav raised questions about the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), suggesting that if dishonesty can occur with smart meters, it could also happen with EVMs. He accused the BJP of attempting to instill fear among voters, referencing alerts sent to mobile phones, even those turned off, as a cause for concern.
Critique of the Education System
On the issue of migration, Yadav noted that lack of employment opportunities forces people to leave their homes. He criticized the education system, highlighting the rise of private colleges and universities with exorbitant fees, making education inaccessible for poorer families. He recalled the Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme initiated by his party to support the education of girls from underprivileged backgrounds, pledging to work towards providing free education from kindergarten to postgraduate levels in the future.
