Akhilesh Yadav Confident of SP's Return to Power in Uttar Pradesh by 2027
Akhilesh Yadav's Vision for 2027 Elections
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, expressed his belief that his party will reclaim power in Uttar Pradesh following the 2027 assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Rewari, he indicated that the Samajwadi Party may contest the elections in alliance with Congress. He emphasized that the opposition coalition, known as the India Block, will remain intact, with Congress as a key partner. Yadav clarified that the distribution of seats will be based on electoral strength rather than mere numbers, stating, 'For us, the issue is not the number of seats; it's about the ability to win. Those who can win will receive tickets.'
Criticism of BJP and Election Strategy
Targeting the BJP, Yadav asserted that the ruling party will face defeat in the ongoing assembly elections across various states, including West Bengal. He remarked that it is natural for a party that loses in the parliament to also lose outside of it. Earlier in the day, while addressing party workers at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow, he harshly criticized the BJP-led NDA, claiming it has lost its moral right to govern at the center.
Women’s Reservation Bill and BJP's Stance
Yadav pointed to the BJP's failure to pass the constitutional amendment bill related to the Women's Reservation Act as evidence that the party does not represent the public's wishes. He countered the BJP's claims of the opposition being anti-women, asserting that the BJP itself is the true opponent of women's rights. He highlighted that a party that has never appointed a woman as its president and only uses the 'Nari' slogan when seeking votes has now been exposed.
Support for Ahir Regiment
When asked about the demand for an Ahir regiment in the Indian Army, Yadav reiterated his support. He added that not only should there be an Ahir regiment, but a Gujarat regiment should also be established, as fewer individuals from Gujarat enlist in the armed forces. This initiative would encourage more people from the state to join the military.
