On Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, stated that the by-elections in Bankipur and Datia were conducted fairly, attributing the BJP's defeat to their failure to employ "wrong methods." Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Yadav noted that the BJP aimed to gauge public dissatisfaction. He congratulated the Congress for their victory in Datia and mentioned that party workers in Madhya Pradesh supported the INDIA alliance.
Yadav remarked that this outcome serves as a 'return gift' for the BJP after 12 years. He suggested that had they campaigned like they did in Bengal and utilized their power, they would not have faced defeat. The BJP wanted to assess public anger without police intervention or tampering with EVMs. He questioned whether the BJP would have lost had they conducted the elections in Uttar Pradesh similarly.
He further stated that the BJP conducted fair elections, expressing satisfaction that the people in Datia stood with the 'INDIA' alliance. Conversations with Jitu Patwari confirmed that party workers in Madhya Pradesh extended their support. In the Bankipur by-election, Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraj Party defeated Neeraj Kumar, a candidate from a seat traditionally held by the BJP. In Datia, Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh won against BJP's Ashutosh Tiwari by a margin of 6,016 votes.
Meanwhile, the BJP retained the Majalpur seat in Gujarat, where Satyendrabhai Patel defeated Congress candidate Bhikhabhai Rabari by a significant margin of 30,630 votes. Prashant Kishor indicated that the results of the Bankipur by-election sent a clear message from Bihar's voters to the BJP and NDA leadership, calling for a change in state leadership. He accused voters of rejecting Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary based on his "behavior, character, and face."
