Akhil Gogoi Critiques Gaurav Gogoi's Political Insight on Opposition Unity

Akhil Gogoi's Response to Gaurav Gogoi's Remarks
Sivasagar, July 20: In response to comments made by State Congress president Gaurav Gogoi, who described Akhil Gogoi as having a ‘multi-version’ personality, Akhil expressed disappointment over Gaurav's apparent lack of political insight regarding the need for unity among the Opposition during this crucial time.
During a press conference in Sivasagar on Friday, Akhil Gogoi stated, “Regardless of our discussions about forming an Opposition unity forum, the remarks from Debabrata Saikia and Gaurav Gogoi indicate a lack of genuine interest in this initiative.” He mentioned that he had reached out to Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge for guidance, but to no avail.
Akhil criticized the BJP for undermining the social fabric and emphasized, “We must come together to defeat the BJP.”
He pointed out, “Since Gaurav Gogoi took over as president of the APCC, he has not made any clear statements regarding potential alliances.”
Despite facing numerous sarcastic remarks directed at him, Akhil maintained that he has refrained from making derogatory comments about Gaurav Gogoi. “I am exercising patience on these matters to ensure we can defeat the BJP,” he remarked.
“The BJP gained an advantage due to our lack of unity in the panchayat elections. If Gaurav continues to trivialize these issues, I may eventually lose my patience,” he warned.
Akhil also noted that Gaurav Gogoi has not acknowledged the support received from the Raijor Dal during the last Lok Sabha elections.
He recounted his experiences, stating that he had been imprisoned 20 times under Congress rule and 16 times under BJP rule. “Yet, I am advocating for an alliance solely to challenge the BJP government, which targets Muslims in Assam,” Akhil concluded.
