Concerns Raised Over Employment Issues in Punjab

Chandigarh, August 9 - Daljit Singh Cheema, a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, claiming that under Bhagwant Mann's leadership, the state is grappling with a severe crisis related to employment and services. Cheema has urged the AAP government to release a white paper addressing the current employment and recruitment situation in Punjab.

He asserted that those already in government positions are fighting for their rightful entitlements, while unemployed youth are awaiting a fair, transparent, and reliable recruitment process. Cheema emphasized that regular government employees are demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), payment of pending Dearness Allowances (DA), and other legitimate service benefits.

In a statement, he remarked, 'The government cannot keep evading these issues, nor can it continue to provide mere assurances without outlining a clear and timely framework for resolution.' He insisted that the AAP government must promptly issue a comprehensive white paper on the employment and recruitment situation in Punjab. Cheema concluded by stating, 'The youth of Punjab need jobs, government employees seek justice, and all sections of society deserve clear answers and timely actions instead of hollow assurances.'
