Ajmer Farmers Encouraged to Apply for Crop Insurance Under PM Fasal Bima Yojana

Farmers in Ajmer district are reminded that the deadline to apply for crop insurance under the Prime Minister's Fasal Bima Yojana is July 31. The scheme, aimed at providing financial support to farmers, allows both loan and non-loan farmers to insure their crops. Farmers are encouraged to act promptly to secure their insurance and are advised on the necessary procedures and premium details. Crop Insurance Application Deadline Approaches

Ajmer, July 27. Farmers in Ajmer district have until July 31 to apply for crop insurance under the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme. The state government has authorized the National Insurance Company Limited to implement this scheme effectively in the district.


According to the Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, farmers who take out crop loans, non-loan farmers, and sharecroppers will be able to insure their notified crops in 2026. Loan farmers will have their insurance processed through their respective bank branches. Participation in this scheme is entirely voluntary.


Notified Kharif Crops

The official mentioned that for the 2026-27 season, the notified crops in the district include urad, cotton, moong, groundnut, guar, maize, bajra, sesame, and jowar. Non-loan farmers can secure insurance for their crops by July 31 through the nearest central cooperative bank, regional rural bank, commercial bank branches, post offices, or agents of the notified insurance company and common service centers.


Important Information for Loan Farmers

Loan farmers must inform their financial institutions about any changes to their insured crops by July 29. Those wishing to opt out of the scheme must submit a declaration to their respective financial institution. Failure to submit this declaration on time will result in automatic inclusion in the scheme.


Insurance Amount and Premium Details

Farmers will be responsible for a maximum premium of 0.20 percent under the scheme, with the remaining premium covered by the central and state governments. For instance, the insured amount for urad is ₹39,087, requiring a premium payment of ₹78.174 from the farmer. Similarly, for cotton, the insured amount is ₹1,72,265, with a premium of ₹344.53; for moong, it is ₹52,577 with a premium of ₹105.154; and for groundnut, the insured amount is ₹1,05,700 with a premium of ₹211.40. Other crops like guar, maize, bajra, sesame, and jowar have their respective insured amounts and premiums detailed accordingly.
