In a significant move to safeguard India's strategic and economic interests, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval embarked on an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Sunday. This trip, directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscores New Delhi's intensified diplomatic outreach towards the Gulf region, particularly at a time when the area is grappling with the repercussions of the US-Israel conflict involving Iran. During an inter-ministerial briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that Doval engaged in high-level discussions with Saudi Arabia's energy minister, foreign minister, and his security counterpart.

Following the Prime Minister's directives, our engagement with Gulf nations continues. Doval's visit on April 19 included meetings with key Saudi officials, aimed at exchanging views on regional issues and strengthening bilateral ties. Jaiswal noted that these discussions were pivotal in enhancing cooperation and addressing regional instability.

The talks focused on four essential pillars crucial for India-Saudi relations: ensuring stable supply chains despite threats to global trade routes, addressing concerns in the Strait of Hormuz and the broader Persian Gulf, enhancing intelligence sharing and coordination, and bolstering economic ties. As regional developments impact Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, India has maintained a balanced diplomatic stance. Despite disruptions to shipping routes and rising humanitarian concerns due to the conflict, New Delhi has consistently advocated for restraint among all warring parties, ensuring the safety of civilians in conflict zones, and promoting dialogue to prevent further escalation.
