Ajinkya Rahane Questions Cameron Green's Absence in Bowling During IPL 2026 Match
Exciting Clash Between Mumbai Indians and KKR
In an exhilarating match last night, the Mumbai Indians faced off against KKR in IPL 2026. KKR set a formidable target of 220 runs, losing 4 wickets in their 20 overs, thanks to explosive half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane and Ankur Raghuwanshi. However, Mumbai Indians chased down the target with 5 balls to spare, propelled by quick half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton.
Rahane Raises Concerns Over Green's Bowling
Following the defeat, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane expressed his dissatisfaction regarding Cameron Green's absence from bowling. He questioned why the team's expensive all-rounder did not bowl a single over, hinting that Cricket Australia should provide an explanation. This statement has sparked a response from Cricket Australia, escalating the controversy.
It's noteworthy that KKR invested heavily in Cameron Green during the IPL 2026 mega auction, acquiring him for a whopping ₹26.2 crores. Unfortunately, he had a disappointing performance in his debut match, scoring only 18 runs and failing to bowl at all, which did not sit well with Rahane.
Cricket Australia's Response to Rahane
Cricket Australia reacted swiftly to Rahane's comments, emphasizing that the issue is more concerning for them than for Cameron Green. A spokesperson stated,
“Cameron Green is managing a lower back injury, which is why he has been kept away from bowling for a while.”
They further added,
“Green is gradually increasing his bowling load in India and is expected to return in about 10-12 days. KKR has been informed about this situation beforehand.”
