Ajay Rai Criticizes UP Government Over Demolition Notice for University
Criticism of Demolition Notice
Ajay Rai, a leader from the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, has expressed strong disapproval of the demolition notice issued on July 16 for Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur. He claims that this action is a diversion from the ongoing Ram Mandir controversy. Rai described the notice, released by the Rampur Development Authority (RDA), as part of a scheme linked to allegations of misappropriation of donations made to Lord Ram.
Rai further stated that the government is entangled in the theft of offerings made to Lord Ram. He accused the RSS and BJP of orchestrating a systematic plunder of donations, offerings, and land associated with Lord Ram. Additionally, he pointed out that notices regarding vandalism at King George Medical University (KGMU) and restrictions on non-vegetarian food are tactics aimed at distracting the public.
He alleged that the government is focused on creating divisions among communities, diverting attention from the issue of stolen donations and offerings to Lord Ram. Rai condemned these actions as fundamentally unethical, asserting that their sole purpose is to incite division between Hindus and Muslims.
In response, Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak defended the demolition notice, reiterating the government's commitment to maintaining law and order. He assured reporters that the government is dedicated to ensuring that no illegal activities occur.
Details of the Demolition Notice
The RDA has issued a notice to the Jauhar Trust, which oversees the operations of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. This notice demands the removal of 38 buildings on campus, which are alleged to have been constructed without proper approval. According to a board placed by the Public Works Department (PWD), a road within the university is designated as a public thoroughfare. The authority indicated that approximately 82,309.80 square meters of construction was carried out without an approved building plan.
