Airlines Warn Passengers of Weather-Related Disruptions in Delhi
Travel Advisories Issued Amid Weather Concerns
New Delhi, March 19: On Thursday, airlines released travel advisories for passengers traveling to and from Delhi and other regions, cautioning them about potential disruptions caused by adverse weather.
IndiGo indicated that flights in and out of Delhi and Bengaluru might experience "slight impacts" due to anticipated thundershowers, while Air India highlighted ongoing rain and strong winds affecting the national capital and surrounding areas in northern India.
Both airlines noted that flight schedules could encounter minor delays, despite the operational teams' efforts to reduce disruptions.
Travelers are encouraged to verify their flight status via airline websites or mobile applications prior to arriving at the airport.
Air India also recommended that passengers allocate additional time for their journeys, as weather conditions may lead to slower road traffic.
In the meantime, residents of Delhi experienced a cloudy morning on Thursday, with certain areas receiving up to 12.5 mm of rainfall.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 17.6 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the national capital will likely see a generally overcast sky with further rain throughout the day.
It has forecasted "one or two instances of very light to light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 30-40 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h in the afternoon or evening".
The weather agency has also issued a broader alert, predicting scattered thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and heavy rainfall or hailstorms across the Western Himalayan region and various parts of northwest, central, and eastern India over the coming days.
