Air India Plans Special Session for Flight Incident Review

On Saturday, Air India announced its intention to hold a special session in the coming days to review the preliminary investigation report regarding the aircraft incident that occurred on June 12 in Ahmedabad, which will include the pilots' input.


The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) released a 15-page preliminary report on Saturday morning. The report indicated that both engines of Air India's flight AI171 lost fuel supply within a second of each other, leading to confusion in the cockpit and causing the aircraft to crash shortly after takeoff.


Manish Uppal, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations at Air India, addressed the pilots in a letter, stating that the preliminary investigation report concerning the tragic incident involving flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick has been officially released.


As aviation professionals, we recognize the importance of learning from every safety-related incident to ensure secure flights, he emphasized. This tragedy has profoundly impacted the aviation community and the pilot group at Air India.
