Air India Pilot Falls Ill Before Bengaluru to Delhi Flight

Pilot's Sudden Illness
An Air India pilot experienced a medical emergency just prior to his scheduled flight from Bengaluru to Delhi, as reported by various sources. The airline promptly transported the pilot to a hospital and arranged for a replacement pilot to take over the flight.
Air India confirmed that the incident occurred in the early hours of July 4, stating, "A medical emergency involving one of our pilots occurred early on July 4, preventing him from operating flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi. He was immediately taken to a local hospital."
Technical Issues Affect Air India Flights
On July 3, Air India faced additional challenges when it had to cancel its flight from New Delhi to Washington, DC. This cancellation was due to a technical problem that arose during a routine stop in Vienna, which necessitated prolonged maintenance, according to an airline spokesperson.
As a result, passengers were disembarked in Vienna, and the subsequent Vienna-Washington segment was also canceled.
The disruption led to the cancellation of the return flight AI104 from Washington, DC to Delhi via Vienna. Air India has assured that affected passengers have been rebooked on alternative flights or offered full refunds based on their choices.
An airline representative explained, "Flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington, DC, on July 2, 2025, made a planned fuel stop in Vienna. During standard aircraft inspections, an extended maintenance issue was discovered, requiring rectification before the next flight, which took additional time to complete."
