Technical Glitches Force Passenger Evacuations
On Tuesday morning, passengers aboard an Air India flight traveling from San Francisco to Mumbai were evacuated at Kolkata Airport due to a technical malfunction in one of the aircraft's engines. Flight AI180 arrived at the airport at 12:45 AM on Tuesday, but a problem with the left engine caused delays in its onward journey. Passengers were instructed to disembark around 5:20 AM, with the captain emphasizing that the decision was made in the interest of flight safety.
Multiple Flights Encounter Technical Difficulties
In a span of 24 hours, two separate Air India flights experienced technical issues, causing inconvenience for travelers. An Air India Express flight from the capital to Ranchi had to return shortly after takeoff due to suspected technical problems. The Boeing 737 Max 8 was scheduled to land in Ranchi at 6:20 PM but unexpectedly diverted back to Delhi. According to an airline official, the flight resumed normally after inspection and clearance.
Flight Diverted Due to Technical Concerns
In another incident, an Air India flight returning from Hong Kong to Delhi was diverted mid-air after the pilot reported a suspected technical issue. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had already departed from Hong Kong, and passengers were safely disembarked. A security inspection of the aircraft is currently underway.
