Air India Flight Faces Technical Issues
An Air India aircraft en route to San Francisco, carrying nearly 230 passengers, had to return to the capital after experiencing technical difficulties on Wednesday morning. According to a statement from the airline, the plane landed safely and will undergo a technical inspection in line with Air India's safety protocols. Sources indicated that the Boeing 777-300 ER was carrying approximately 230 individuals.
The airline reported that Flight AI173, which was scheduled to depart from Delhi to San Francisco on May 27, returned to Delhi due to the technical malfunction as per standard procedures. Information available on the flight tracking website indicated that the aircraft remained airborne for over eight hours. After spending more than three hours in Chinese airspace, the plane began its journey back to the national capital.
Expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers, Air India stated that alternative arrangements are being made to ensure they reach their destination as soon as possible. The airline added that its ground team is providing all necessary assistance, including refreshments, hotel accommodations, or rescheduling travel as per the passengers' preferences.
