Air India Flight Diverted to Riyadh Following Bomb Threat

Bomb Threat Forces Diversion of Air India Flight

An Air India flight traveling from Birmingham to Delhi encountered a bomb threat on Saturday, prompting a diversion to Riyadh. A spokesperson for the airline confirmed on Sunday that Flight AI114 landed safely in Riyadh, where it underwent a thorough security check.

This incident follows a technical issue that led to the cancellation of an IndiGo flight on Friday. The problem was identified before the aircraft began taxiing, allowing all passengers to disembark safely, as reported by sources.

Moreover, the aviation sector has been experiencing a surge in flight cancellations and rescheduling due to technical difficulties, particularly in light of the recent Air India crash in Ahmedabad. On Saturday, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Varanasi due to adverse weather conditions but eventually reached its intended destination.

In another incident on Friday, an IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Chennai, carrying 168 passengers, declared a 'Mayday' and made an emergency landing at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The captain issued the distress call after the aircraft was running low on fuel.

The flight had initially attempted to land in Chennai, but an unstable approach forced the crew to abort the landing and climb back after the landing gear touched the runway. The emergency landing occurred approximately 35 miles from Bengaluru, necessitating the use of an alternate airport.
