Air India Under Investigation Following Fatal Incident
India's aviation regulatory authority has mandated Air India to terminate three employees due to serious safety violations, raising significant concerns. This decision comes shortly after a tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed the lives of 270 individuals. On June 12, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India crashed shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, landing in the BJ Medical College hostel area of Meghani Nagar, Gujarat.
Out of the 242 passengers aboard, 241 lost their lives, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Additionally, several fatalities occurred on the ground. Authorities are currently conducting DNA matching to identify the victims, as many bodies were so severely burned that identification is challenging. Gujarat's government spokesperson and health minister, Rushikesh Patel, stated, "So far, 220 DNA samples have been matched, and relatives of the victims have been contacted. The remains of 202 victims have been handed over to their families, and the identification process is ongoing."
