Air India Diverts Flights Amid Iran-Israel Tensions
Air India Flight Diversions Due to Regional Conflict
Mumbai, June 13: In response to escalating tensions following an Israeli attack on Iran, Air India has redirected sixteen of its long- and ultra-long-haul flights. The airline announced this decision on Friday due to the closure of Iranian airspace.
The full-service carrier has issued a travel advisory, indicating that they are making arrangements to ensure passengers reach their intended destinations.
On the same day, Israel targeted Tehran, striking key sites including nuclear facilities, missile production sites, and military leadership.
Given the situation in Iran and the closure of its airspace, Air India has prioritized passenger safety, leading to the diversion or return of several flights.
Notably, flight AI130 from London Heathrow to Mumbai has been rerouted to Vienna, while AI102 from New York to Delhi is now heading to Sharjah. Additionally, AI116 from New York to Mumbai has been diverted to Jeddah.
Other affected flights include AI2018 from London Heathrow to Delhi, which is now landing in Mumbai, and flights AI129 and AI119 from Mumbai to London and New York, respectively, which are returning to Mumbai.
Furthermore, flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington is also returning to Delhi, and AI106 from Newark to Delhi is being diverted to Vienna.
