Allegations of Mosque Property Demolition in Delhi

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), claimed on Wednesday that a portion of a mosque property owned by the Waqf in Delhi was demolished, attributing the incident to the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

Violence erupted during an anti-encroachment drive near the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in the Ramleela Maidan area late Tuesday night, following a social media post alleging the demolition of a mosque located in front of Turkman Gate, leading to stone-pelting against police personnel.

Five police officers sustained injuries during the stone-throwing incident, prompting law enforcement to deploy tear gas.

While addressing a rally for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar municipal elections, Owaisi stated that at 1:30 AM, a mosque property near Turkman Gate was demolished, which is classified as Waqf property according to a 1970 gazette notification.

He warned that the demolition campaign is just the beginning following the passage of the Waqf Act in Parliament, urging citizens to understand the ongoing events in the country and send a strong message to the ruling parties through their votes.

Owaisi further alleged that the Delhi High Court issued incorrect orders despite the property being declared Waqf land in a 1970 gazette notification.

He criticized the High Court for making a decision regarding the ownership of the mosque, claiming it lacked the authority to do so. He also pointed out that the Delhi Waqf Board failed to take appropriate legal action by not filing a review petition.

He announced that the matter would now be escalated to the Supreme Court.

Owaisi accused the Waqf Act, which he referred to as a 'black law,' of being used to seize Muslim religious properties.

He stated that this law was enacted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the support of Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, and Chandrababu Naidu, and is being utilized to take away their mosques and cemeteries.

He emphasized that what occurred in Delhi is merely the beginning.

Owaisi urged voters in Maharashtra to oppose Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar in the upcoming local body elections.
